TEETH WHITENING

Brightening Your Smile

One of the easiest ways to enhance the appearance of your teeth is through teeth whitening. Glossy, white teeth can help you feel more professional, confident and ready to take on day-to-day life. At Go Dental we offer two teeth whitening options—tray whitening or in-office whitening.

In-Office Whitening

Our in-office teeth whitening procedure produces a significant color change in teeth and is the best option for patients who want quick results. Our dentist will apply a high concentration of a whitening gel on the teeth and then activate it with a special blue light. The entire treatment takes just one hour to complete and will instantly brighten the color of your teeth.

Tray Whitening

We offer a convenient, at-home whitening option that whitens your teeth over time using custom-made trays. The take-home whitening system is more affordable than in-office whitening and can be completed in the comfort of your home in just one to two weeks. While the bleaching agent in your at-home tray whitening system is not quite as strong as the agent used for in-office whitening, the results are the same—a healthy and bright smile that you can be proud of.

HOW TO USE YOUR TRAYS

For best results, it’s important to follow the instructions provided by your dentist. Tray whitening is easy, but improper treatment can harm the enamel on your teeth. The typical process for properly applying your whitening trays is as follows:

Only apply whitening trays to clean teeth. Brush and floss your teeth before each whitening session. Unclean teeth can cause difficulties with the bleaching agent and lead to uneven shading.

Your whitening tray will come with a syringe and gel to insert into the tray. Per your dentist’s instructions, only apply a small amount of gel to the tray.

Insert the tray into your mouth, firmly pushing it into place. If the solution spills out of the sides of the tray, wipe it off to avoid gum irritation. Do not swallow the solution and spit the solution into the sink to avoid swallowing. Wear your trays for the specified amount of time.

Immediately rinse your teeth after removing the tray. Make sure to remove any existing gel from the mouth.

Wipe your tray so that it’s clean and ready for its next use. Store the remaining gel if necessary.

KEEPING YOUR TEETH BRIGHTER FOR LONGER

A professional teeth whitening lasts anywhere between 6 months and 3 years. How long your treatment lasts depends on the following:

Check in with your Go Dental dentist about your results. We’ll provide tips on improving and maintaining the brightness of your teeth.

Brushing twice a day, flossing daily, avoiding sugary foods and drinks and seeing your dentist regularly are all good dental hygiene habits to practice and make your whitening treatment last longer.

The use of tobacco products significantly stains your teeth and should be avoided.

There are certain kinds of toothpaste that can help maintain the brightness of your teeth. Talk to your dentist about the best toothpaste for you.
